The "Human interface Device" setting was trying to establish itself and not allowing the "Sound Video and Game Controllers" setting to work. Windows was obviously thinking the keyboard was something else even though it had loaded the correct driver. It was the "HID-Compliant system controller" I uninstalled itĪnd bingo the keyboard and the device manger stopped flashing and the keyboard was finally connected and working. The "Human Interface Devices" section was continually expanding open as well when the manager was flashing which I had ignored until I realised that one of the entries was greying in and out. The light on the keyboard was flashing intermittently but it wouldnt fully connect and the device manager was flashing like something
Under the properties for the driver it was saying the device wasn't connected but it was. So the correct driver had been installed but the computer wasn't recognizing Next, and this was an important step, under the View menu in the device manger I checked "Show Hidden Devices" and wella there was the MPKMini2 albeit greyed out but it was there.
Uninstalling any driver that you suspect might have been installed for the keyboard and restarting the computer with the keyboard plugged in worked and you should see the driver with the name of the unit being installed by Windows in the notification list The device manager is important and after multiple attempts I got the MPKmini2 driver to show up in the "Sound Video and Game Controllers" in the device manager but for hours before that I couldn't see it and only saw a USB Device in the list. Multiple reboots, driver installs, driver uninstalls, threats of violence towards my computer, hours spent scouring google etc etc ive finally got it to work.
I bought a AKAI MPK Mini keyboard for a friend and thought I would just check to see if its easy to install and use b4 passing it onto my Ive just spent the best part of 2 days trying to sort it. I have had similar issues to everybody in this discussion. I verified all the problem devices now work. I then again ran the korg uninstall midi-devices utility and verified the problem devices grabbed a midi port under 10 which they did, for me I had three problem devices. Before step two my problem devices were getting assigned midi ports in the high teens/low 20's.įourth, I plugged in the problem devices and turned them on letting them reinstall.
I verified that I had free midi ports below port 10 after the clean up from step 2. It works even if you don't have korg devices and you can uninstall after you fix things. You can get this from korg's website and it installs as part of their usb driver. Third, I checked the Unistall Korg midi-device utility. Installs a new one every time a device is plugged into a different usb port is used even if it's the same device. This removed quite a few devices as windows I right clicked and uninstalled any midi devices that were grayed outĪnd had a non-grayed out duplicate, right before doing this make sure to unplug the devices your having issues with, windows will warn you to do so. Second I started control panel, went into device manager, changed view to show hidden devices and expanded down the sound, video, and game controllers. I have quite a few devices doing midi or usb. I did this so device manager shows me what is really going on in the next step. Here is some more detail on what I did to solve the issue.įirst I connected all of my midi devices at once regardless of it they work or not.
